Outage leaves Vodafone Idea users in NCR without calls or internet; services now restored

Vodafone Idea (Vi) users in parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) faced a major disruption in mobile services during the early hours of Friday. The outage left thousands unable to access basic services, including calls, internet, and OTP-based verifications.
In an official statement, a Vi spokesperson said, “Our network services were briefly impacted in NCR during the early hours of Friday (April 18) due to a technical issue. The issue has been resolved and all services are now back to normal. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank our users for their patience and understanding.”
Users report major blackout in key cities
The network failure reportedly affected several key NCR cities, including New Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Downdetector, a real-time outage tracking platform, recorded over 1,800 complaints within the first hour of the blackout, with the number peaking at 1,940 by 1:01 AM. More than 70 per cent of users reported “no signal,” while others cited “total blackout” or “internet issues”.
Subscribers flood social media with complaints
Angry users took to social media to express frustration over the disruption. Many tagged Vi’s official accounts, highlighting issues with making calls, internet access, and OTP delays that disrupted app logins and digital services. Several users also reported that restarting their phones or attempting to log in to the Vi app yielded no results due to the network failure.
