OnePlus launches OxygenOS 16: Top 5 features you must know

OnePlus has officially rolled out OxygenOS 16, bringing Android 16 to its smartphones along with a host of new features such as fluid animations, resizable app icons, lock screen widgets, and AI-powered enhancements.

The update is scheduled for a wider rollout in November and promises smoother performance and a more personalised user experience.

Here’s a breakdown of the top features coming with OxygenOS16 release:

1) Fluid Animations
OnePlus introduces “Parallel Processing 2.0”, a technology designed to enhance UI animations by starting new actions even before previous ones complete. This ensures smoother transitions across apps, navigation gestures, and system interactions, offering a seamless visual experience.

2) Resizable App Icons
OxygenOS 16 allows users to adjust the size of app icons and folders on the home screen according to their preference. The update also optimises the UI for tablets, enabling users to add up to five apps in Open Canvas, three in split view, and two in floating windows for multitasking.

3) Lock Screen Widgets, Themes, and Wallpapers
The Flux Theme 2.0 brings dynamic Motion Photos and video wallpapers to OxygenOS 16, along with a full-screen Always-on Display (AOD) for enhanced interactivity. A highly requested feature has also been added: lock screen widgets, which can be arranged vertically or horizontally depending on the selected theme.

4) Fluid Cloud
Users can now access live notifications and updates from apps like Spotify, sports platforms, and food delivery services directly on the lock screen. The update also introduces refined visual elements such as Gaussian blur effects, rounded corners, and a translucent interface in Quick Settings, the Home Screen, and the App Drawer. First-party apps, including Clock and Calculator, also receive design and functionality improvements.

5) Plus Mind
The AI-driven Plus Mind feature, initially launched with OnePlus 13S, has been significantly upgraded. Users can now store images, record voice notes up to one minute by holding the Plus Key, and capture long screenshots to save articles or other content. The built-in search function allows users to query their saved screenshots and voice notes, while integration with the Gemini app enables AI-assisted access to stored content.
