OnePlus is ready to unveil its latest premium smartphone, the OnePlus 15R, in India tonight at 7 pm IST (Wednesday). The launch event, being held in Bengaluru, will also see the debut of the OnePlus Pad Go 2, a new tablet aimed at students and young professionals. Both devices will go on sale from December 18.

This launch marks OnePlus’s return to a large, live keynote-style event, with thousands of community members attending in person as the company celebrates its 12th anniversary.

OnePlus 15R: A new premium contender

The OnePlus 15R is positioned firmly in the premium smartphone segment. It becomes the first phone in the world to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with a dedicated G2 Wi-Fi chip for improved connectivity.

The phone features a 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, designed for smooth scrolling, gaming and video playback. The screen delivers 450 pixels per inch, with brightness that can scale from 1 nit to 1,800 nits, making it suitable for both dark rooms and bright outdoor use.

Battery, charging and performance focus

A major highlight of the OnePlus 15R is its 7,400mAh battery, the largest ever used by the brand in the Indian market. OnePlus says the battery is built using Silicon Nanostack technology, helping it retain 80 per cent capacity even after four years of use.

The device is expected to ship with an 80W fast charger in the box, offering quick top-ups for daily use. Memory and storage options are likely to go up to 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

Camera upgrades across the board

On the camera front, the OnePlus 15R brings notable upgrades. It features a 32MP front camera with autofocus, a first for the R series, capable of shooting 4K video at 30fps.

At the back, the phone is expected to use a 50MP main camera along with a telephoto lens, with support for 4K video recording at up to 120fps. These features aim to bring flagship-level photography and video capabilities to a wider audience.

Colours, Ace edition and expected price

The OnePlus 15R will be available in Charcoal Black and Mint Green, while a special Ace Edition comes in Electric Violet, with the word “Ace” inscribed on the back and a fingerprint-resistant fibreglass finish.

With smartphone prices rising across the industry, the OnePlus 15R is expected to start at around Rs 47,000 for the base variant, though official pricing will be revealed during the launch.

OnePlus Pad Go 2: Productivity at a lower price

Alongside the phone, OnePlus is launching the Pad Go 2, the successor to its 2023 tablet. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra processor and comes bundled with a stylus, marking the first Pad Go device to support pen input.

The tablet features a 12.1-inch display with a 7:5 aspect ratio, 2.8K resolution, 900 nits brightness, 98 per cent DCI-P3 colour coverage, and an 88.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It also supports Dolby Vision for enhanced viewing.

A 10,050mAh battery powers the Pad Go 2, supported by 33W charging. The device includes Open Canvas software, allowing split-screen multitasking and smooth switching between multiple windows.

The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is expected to be priced below Rs 20,000, going up to around Rs 25,000, making it an affordable option for everyday productivity and content consumption.

The launch event is being livestreamed globally on OnePlus’s official website and YouTube channel. Full details on pricing, variants and availability will be announced during the event later tonight.
