Ola Electric launches Gen 3 scooters with budget-friendly models; price, features, other details

Ola Electric Mobility Ltd launched its highly anticipated Gen 3 electric scooter lineup on Friday. The latest range is powered by Ola’s newly developed ‘MoveOS 5,’ the company’s upgraded EV operating system.
The Gen 3 lineup introduces multiple models, including the Ola S1 Pro, S1 Pro+, and the budget-friendly S1 X and S1 X+. These models offer a variety of battery configurations to suit different customer needs:
- Ola S1 Pro: Available with either a 3 kWh or a 4 kWh battery.
- Ola S1 Pro+: Offers two battery options—4 kWh and a more powerful 5.3 kWh variant.
- Ola S1 X: Comes in three battery choices—2 kWh, 3 kWh, and 4 kWh.
- Ola S1 X+: Exclusively available with a 4 kWh battery pack.
The S1 Pro+ stands out with a remarkable 320 km range and a top speed of 141 km/h, according to Ola.
Features
Ola’s Gen 3 scooters introduce the company’s patented ‘Brake by Wire’ technology, which enhances braking efficiency. A sensor on the brake lever helps optimize braking by balancing brake pad usage with motor resistance, leading to a 15% increase in range and doubling brake pad life.
Additionally, the scooters use regenerative braking, where the electric motor converts braking energy into electricity, further extending battery life.
For enhanced efficiency and durability, the new models feature a mid-drive motor with an integrated Motor Control Unit (MCU), replacing the hub motors used in previous versions. Ola claims this new setup is five times more efficient, lighter, and more reliable.
Another major change is the switch from belt drive to chain drive with pre-lubricated O-rings, which Ola expects will last twice as long as belts used in older models.
