New Delhi: Responding to the controversy over Galgotias University displaying a Chinese-made robotic dog as its own at the AI Impact Summit, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology S Krishnan emphasised the need for authenticity in exhibitions.

“We want genuine and actual work to be reflected in the way people exhibit in expos. The idea is not to sort of use this as an opportunity in any other fashion,” Krishnan said. “We do not want the controversy around this. Misinformation cannot be encouraged. It is essential that a code is followed.”

He clarified that the government’s concern was not about judging right or wrong but ensuring that exhibitors present their original innovations. “If people mislead… we do not want a controversial agency whom others believe is exhibiting something which is not theirs,” he added.

Krishnan’s remarks came amid widespread discussion on social media after Galgotias was asked to vacate its stall. He also highlighted that the intention of government policies is not to stifle innovation but to prevent confusion and protect the credibility of exhibitions.

“Expos are meant to showcase real work. We want the effort of genuine innovators to be recognised, and we cannot allow controversies to overshadow that,” Krishnan said, reiterating the importance of accuracy, transparency and adherence to exhibition codes.|
