Jio Hotstar streaming issue resolved; service restored after temporary outage affecting millions

Jio Hotstar has announced that the recent streaming disruption experienced by millions of users across India has been resolved. In an official update, the popular OTT platform stated, “The issue was temporary and has been resolved now. Please try accessing the app again. If the issue persists, please let us know. Happy streaming!” The restoration of service brings relief to subscribers who faced interrupted access to movies, TV shows, and live sports amid the outage.

The outage, reported on October 15, 2025, began around midday and quickly escalated into a widespread issue affecting mobile, smart TV, and web users. Complaints flooded social media with users reporting login failures, repeated buffering, missing search functionality, and error messages preventing normal app usage. Key features such as the search bar, account access, and “Continue Watching” options were unavailable for several hours, causing frustration among subscribers during a peak viewing period marked by festive releases and live cricket streams.

Jio Hotstar promptly acknowledged the "unforeseen technical issue" via their official customer support channels, assuring users that their technical team was actively working to fix the problem and apologising for the inconvenience caused.
