Is GTA 6 delayed again? Insider raises fresh concerns

Rockstar Games’ much-awaited title Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) may be facing yet another delay, according to industry insider Jason Schreier. The update has reignited concerns among fans who have already seen the game’s release timeline shift multiple times.
Originally expected to launch in 2025, Rockstar later confirmed a May release window, before pushing it back by nearly six months to November this year. However, Schreier’s latest comments suggest that even this revised schedule may be uncertain.

Speaking on the Button Mash podcast, Schreier said that based on what he has heard, GTA 6 is not yet “content complete.” He added that there is internal uncertainty at Rockstar Games about whether the development team can meet the November deadline.
According to Schreier, developers are still finalising missions, adding new elements, and deciding what content will make it into the final version of the game. Only after this phase is completed will the team move fully into bug-fixing and optimisation, a process that could take considerable time given the massive scale of the project.

Schreier noted that Rockstar’s history shows a clear preference for delaying releases rather than launching a game in an unfinished or buggy state. Given the unprecedented hype surrounding GTA 6, the studio is unlikely to compromise on quality.
He also speculated on a possible release window tied to Take-Two Interactive’s financial calendar. Since Take-Two’s fiscal year ends in late March 2027, Schreier believes Rockstar may aim to launch GTA 6 before that deadline, as the company’s stock performance is closely linked to the game’s release.
Grand Theft Auto VI is the next main entry in Rockstar’s iconic open-world franchise. Set in the fictional US state of Leonida, the game will feature Vice City and follow a criminal duo, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. GTA 6 is currently slated for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
