‘A safehouse in the hills’ DLC brings Michael to GTA Online: New mansions and chaos await | WATCH

Rockstar Games is set to expand GTA Online with ‘A Safehouse in the Hills’, a luxury-focused update arriving on December 10 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The upcoming update also carries a strong sense of nostalgia by bringing the iconic Michael De Santa back from GTA 5 into GTA Online.
The company confirmed the details in its announcement, outlining a suite of high-end features for players seeking an elevated experience in Los Santos.
Michael De Santa makes his first GTA Online appearance
For long-time followers of the series, Michael’s appearance is a major moment, especially as his absence was noticeable once the events of GTA 5 came to an end. Many players assumed that he had finally settled into the peaceful Hollywood retirement he had always chased.
However, the newly released trailer for ‘A Safehouse in the Hills’ makes it clear that this assumption is no longer valid.
The footage features an older Michael with greying hair, indicating that a considerable amount of time has passed. Despite this, his trademark unpredictable behaviour remains intact. The portrayal shows that he has grown older, yet his temperament appears unchanged from his earlier days.
The update also confirms that Amanda De Santa will return, linking Michael’s comeback to the famously chaotic dynamic of his family.
Although Rockstar has not offered a detailed explanation regarding Michael’s involvement, it appears likely that he will support players in content focused around the new mansions. This could unfold through a set of linked missions, or he may appear in a guiding role, offering advice throughout the update.
Premium mansions and elite amenities
The update introduces premium real estate from Prix Luxury Real Estate, offering mansions crafted for players who have reached the upper echelons of the criminal underworld. As mentioned by Rockstar Games, these properties feature vast outdoor spaces, intricate interior designs, and a state-of-the-art AI Assistant created to support professional and personal tasks. Each residence comes with a range of luxury amenities, including Trophy Cabinets, a private Salon, animal Kennels, and an elegantly illuminated Garage.
Rockstar Games said players can also upgrade their operations with Production Boosts managed by the virtual assistant, alongside optional Private Security. Premium enhancements such as an indoor Car Podium, an Armory, and a Vehicle Workshop allow further expansion within the estate.
GTA+ member benefits and early access perks
According to Rockstar Games, GTA+ members will receive one week of early access to the Vapid FMJ MK V supercar. Membership benefits will also apply to mansion owners, along with a new feature in The Vinewood Club App that enables remote staff management.
New missions, vehicles, tools, and gameplay enhancements
‘A Safehouse in the Hills’ will introduce new missions that do not require property ownership, alongside a selection of high-end vehicles. More aircraft will support Missile Lock-On Jammers, while new Law Enforcement Vehicles, Drift variants, Freemode events, and experience improvements are also planned. Rockstar Games confirmed that an enhanced Mission Creator will be available, giving players access to an extensive toolkit for designing and publishing custom missions.
Last chance to secure rewards before the update
Rockstar Games highlighted that players have until December 7 to complete all three New Listings missions and secure rewards worth up to GTA $3,000,000.
Achieving Gold Tier unlocks a GTA$2,000,000 discount on Prix Luxury properties, a Black Rockstar Varsity Crewneck arriving on 10 December, and a GTA$1,000,000 bonus within 72 hours. Logging in before the deadline still provides Black Tier rewards, including a free Übermacht Revolter sports car.
