Google rolls out 'AI Mode' in search for all users in India | VIDEO

California: Google has commenced the rollout of its 'AI Mode' in Search to all users in India, following what CEO Sundar Pichai described as an "incredible response" during its experimental phase in Labs. Pichai announced the broader availability of this "total reimagining of Search" in a post on X on Tuesday.

Hema Budaraju, Vice President of Product Management for Search, elaborated on the feature in a blog post on July 8. She explained that AI Mode aims to simplify how users ask questions to Google and explore topics in greater depth across the web. The company initially launched AI Mode as an experiment in Labs in India in June, garnering an encouraging response from users who appreciated its speed and the quality of its AI-powered responses. Users utilised the feature for diverse purposes, from in-depth learning to understanding complex how-to guides.

Google is now rolling out the AI Mode experience in Google Search without requiring a Labs sign-up. Over the coming days, users in India will observe a new tab for AI Mode appearing directly in Search and within the search bar of the Google app, initially available in English.

Budaraju confirmed that all features introduced during the Labs launch will be accessible. Users will be able to type, use voice commands, or even snap photos with Google Lens to receive comprehensive AI-powered responses complete with helpful links. The feature also allows users to delve deeper into topics by asking follow-up questions, aiming to enhance curiosity and understanding of the world.
