The spirit of Japan hits Mumbai: Ghost of Yotei takes over metro for an epic launch | WATCH

Mumbai: As part of the promotional buildup for the upcoming Ghost of Yotei game, PlayStation India has wrapped Mumbai Metro trains in vibrant Ghost of Yotei-themed livery. These metro cars display the game’s main protagonist, Atsu, and eye-catching visuals inspired by 1600s rural Japan, creating significant buzz among commuters and gamers alike. This high-visibility campaign is designed to build excitement ahead of the game’s October 2, 2025, launch date.
Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Yotei is a standalone action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions, set in feudal Japan in the year 1603. Players follow Atsu, a haunted mercenary seeking revenge and redemption after a tragic family loss. The game features a richly immersive open world with refined combat mechanics and a strong narrative. It is the spiritual successor to the popular Ghost of Tsushima and promises to be one of PlayStation’s biggest 2025 releases.
Midnight Launch Events and City Coverage
To celebrate the launch, Sony is reportedly organising special midnight launch events across India, with confirmed locations including Mumbai and Bengaluru. These community gatherings are expected to energise local gamers and fans, with possible expansions to cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Patna, Ludhiana, and Gurugram. Pre-orders for the game are already live in many major Indian cities.
Limited-Edition Ghost of Yotei Hardware in India
Alongside the game, Sony plans to release limited-edition Ghost of Yotei-themed PlayStation 5 consoles and DualSense controllers in India. These accessories feature designs inspired by Japanese art, specifically the kintsugi technique, which celebrates beauty found in repairing broken ceramics with gold lacquer, a theme that ties closely into Atsu’s character arc. The controllers come in black and gold variants adorned with intricate motifs and a silhouette of Atsu, while the PS5 console includes hand-drawn icons and a unique golden glow effect.
Pricing reports suggest DualSense controllers costing around ₹7,490, with console bundles possibly priced near ₹55,000. These collectors’ items offer fans both functional features and artistic design, marking them as prized possessions beyond mere gaming peripherals.
Building Anticipation in the Indian Market
PlayStation India's multi-faceted promotional approach, from the metro campaign to exclusive launch events and special edition hardware, reflects Sony’s increasing focus on engaging the rapidly growing Indian gaming community. Ghost of Yotei, with its deep story set in a historically accurate and visually stunning Japan, paired with these marketing efforts, is set to capture the imagination of gamers across the country.
