Canva down: Indian users unable to edit, save or view designs

Popular design platform Canva experienced a major service disruption globally on July 8 (Tuesday), affecting Indian users as well. The outage rendered essential features such as viewing, editing, and saving designs non-functional, impacting workflows for individuals and teams relying on the platform.
What Canva said
At 12:13 AEST (07:43 IST), Canva reported: “We are currently still investigating this issue.” This was followed by a series of updates throughout the afternoon.
At 13:33 AEST (09:03 IST) and 13:39 AEST (09:09 IST), Canva repeated it was continuing investigations.
At 14:10 AEST (09:40 IST), it identified the problems users were facing, including:
- Inability to view or save design changes
- CanvaAI returning failure messages on general knowledge and feature-use queries
- Realtime comments not visible unless the page is refreshed
- Notifications not appearing without refreshing
- Timer and “follow user” functions not working
At 14:56 AEST (10:26 IST), Canva announced: “We are currently working on a resolution.”
Services affected
Canva’s status page listed the following under Major Outage:
- Editing designs
- Viewing designs
- Saving designs
- Downloading designs
- Other features—such as login and signup, media uploads, templates, apps, homepage, projects page, billing, print and delivery, scheduling posts, publishing websites, SDKs, APIs, and both mobile and desktop applications—remained fully operational.
Canva also directed users encountering problems not listed on the status page to its Help Centre.
