BGMI gets spooky and snowy: Haunted bride Anamika crashes Frosty Funland in update 4.1

Bengaluru: The latest Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) 4.1 update has gone live, introducing a mix of new in-game content and locally inspired features. The update adds Frosty Funland, an India-exclusive horror event titled Anamika: The Haunted Indian Bride, and reintroduces the Metro Royale survival mode. It also includes a collaboration featuring a Porsche supercar.

The 4.1 version builds on BGMI’s approach of combining India-specific themes with its global gameplay system. The Frosty Funland mode converts the Erangel map into a snow-covered battle zone called “Penguinville,” which features themed non-playable characters (NPCs), missions, and new tactical gear such as Magic Ice Skates and a Winterland version of the Kar-98 rifle.

Players can also recruit a new combat companion, POWNIN — a ninja penguin character capable of throwing shurikens, teleporting, and sharing supplies. The update adds several interactive items, including the Penguin Snowmobile, ice projectiles, and healing syringes for team coordination.

A key addition is Anamika, described as the “Haunted Indian Bride.” This India-specific NPC appears in multiple locations within Erangel, rewarding players with loot and themed skins when defeated. The character also triggers limited-time boss battles with unique combat abilities such as knock-back and teleportation.

The Metro Royale mode returns in this version as an extraction-based survival experience. It allows players to collect resources, fight AI enemies, and extract safely to retain earned items. The mode introduces seasonal progression, a revamped command centre system, and reputation-based NPC interactions.

The update includes several system improvements, including redesigned missions, a faster reputation level-up process, enhanced UI, and new round-selection options for solo players. The Porsche vehicle integration adds new driving mechanics and visual upgrades for in-game travel.

Seasonal events tied to the update include the Winter Warfare Exchange Centre (November–December) and the Rocket Exchange Centre (December–January), both offering limited-time rewards and collectible items.

BGMI has crossed over 200 million downloads in India, according to KRAFTON. The company continues to expand local content collaborations and game development initiatives through the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) and esports tournaments such as BGIS and BMPS.
