WWE Evolution 2025: Naomi, Trish Stratus deliver unforgettable highlights

The State Farm Arena was electrifying on Sunday, July 13, as WWE presented Evolution 2025, a landmark Premium Live Event dedicated entirely to the women's divisions. The night was packed with high-stakes championship defences, brutal rivalries, and a shocking main event that saw a new champion crowned.
The most talked-about moment of the evening came in the highly anticipated Women's World Championship main event. What began as a fierce battle between champion Iyo Sky and challenger Rhea Ripley exploded into a Triple Threat when Naomi sensationally cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase. Capitalising on the chaos and the exhaustion of both competitors, Naomi seized her opportunity, pinning Iyo Sky to become the sensational new Women's World Champion, sending the Atlanta crowd into a frenzy.
Earlier in the night, a highly anticipated intergenerational clash saw Tiffany Stratton successfully defend her WWE Women's Championship against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Stratus, who made a significant return at the Royal Rumble in February 2025 and even briefly allied with Stratton before turning rival, entered the arena in striking white and gold gear, a clear homage to the WWE Women's title of her illustrious era. The match was a captivating display of veteran prowess against the rising star's athleticism.
Stratus showcased her iconic "Stratusfaction" and delivered a series of sharp chops and high-flying manoeuvres, prompting chants of "You still got it!" from the enthusiastic crowd. Despite a valiant effort and a near-fall, Stratton, demonstrating her resilience and skill, countered a moonsault attempt from Stratus, followed by a punishing Alabama Slam, and then sealed the victory with her signature "Prettiest Moonsault Ever" to retain the championship.
While a loss for the veteran, Stratus's performance was widely lauded, and she received a massive ovation from the Atlanta audience, taking a moment to acknowledge their appreciation and further cementing her legendary status.

The Women's Intercontinental Championship was also on the line, with Becky Lynch emerging victorious in a thrilling Triple Threat match against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. "The Man" utilised her veteran instincts to secure the pinfall, continuing her reign with the newly established title.
Evolution 2025 also featured a brutal No Holds Barred match between fierce rivals Jade Cargill and Naomi, with Bianca Belair serving as special guest referee. In a physically demanding contest that saw weapons utilised throughout the arena, Cargill ultimately secured a definitive victory, delivering a devastating "Jaded" through a table to put an emphatic end to their long-standing animosity.
In tag team action, The Judgment Day's Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez successfully defended their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships in a chaotic Fatal-4-Way encounter, overcoming the challenges posed by Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, Sol Ruca & Zaria, and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane).
The NXT Women's Championship also saw action, with Jacy Jayne retaining her title against Jordynne Grace, though not without controversy. External interference allowed Jayne to secure the win, much to the chagrin of the "Juggernaut" Grace.
Kicking off the night's proceedings, a 20-woman Evolution Battle Royal saw superstars from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT vying for a future championship opportunity. In a hard-fought melee, Stephanie Vaquer emerged as the last woman standing, earning herself a shot at a Women's World Championship at the upcoming Clash in Paris Premium Live Event.
