Handball team selection procedure: Kerala child rights body orders probe

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has issued an order to conduct a detailed investigation to identify any discrepancy in the selection of children for the national handball competition held last year. If discrepancies are found, strict action will be initiated against the wrongdoers. 

The Commission member P P Shyamala Devi has directed the principal secretary of the Sports & Youth Affairs Department to ensure transparency in the selection procedure for district, state, and international competitions. 

The commission also directed the department for making guidelines ensuring the selection of individuals based on qualification and talent. The department will have to submit a report to the commission within 50 days in this regard.
