Meet 18-year-old Arvid Lindblad, the rising star partnering Max Verstappen in Formula 1

British teen Arvid Lindblad will step into Formula 1 for the first time in 2026, joining Racing Bulls alongside Liam Lawson, the team announced. The move marks a significant milestone for the 18-year-old, who has rapidly progressed through the Red Bull Junior Programme.
Who joins Red Bull and Racing Bulls?
Isack Hadjar will move up to Red Bull Racing next season to partner four-time World Champion Max Verstappen, following a strong rookie campaign that included points in ten Grands Prix and a maiden podium at the Dutch Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Lindblad will make his debut with Racing Bulls, after impressing in Formula 2 and performing strongly in Free Practice 1 sessions at Silverstone and Mexico.
Liam Lawson, who replaced Daniel Ricciardo mid-2024, will continue with Racing Bulls, leaving Yuki Tsunoda without a full-time seat. Tsunoda will remain part of the Red Bull family as a reserve driver for both teams in 2026.

Red Bull CEO Laurent Mekies highlighted the achievements of Hadjar and praised Lindblad as a fast learner with the raw speed required for Formula 1. Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane described Lindblad’s rapid progression as a standout in junior motorsport, while Lawson’s consistency earned him a second full season with the team.

Lindblad expressed pride at achieving a lifelong goal, crediting the Red Bull Junior Programme and his personal team for guidance and support. He acknowledged the challenge of his debut season but said he was ready to learn and rise to it.
