Arjun Tendulkar, the 25-year-old left-arm pace-bowling all-rounder and son of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, is reportedly engaged to Saaniya Chandok, granddaughter of veteran Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai.

The private ceremony was attended only by close relatives and friends, as reported by India Today. While there has been no official announcement from either family, reports of the engagement have been widely shared on social media, sparking curiosity about Saaniya’s background.

Who is she?

Saaniya Chandok belongs to one of Mumbai’s most influential business families. Her grandfather, Ravi Ghai, chairs the Graviss Group, which owns the InterContinental hotel in Mumbai and the ice cream brand Brooklyn Creamery. The Ghai family has long been a key player in the hospitality and food industries, maintaining a strong presence in India and abroad.

Ravi Ghai is the son of Iqbal Krishna Ghai, founder of the iconic Kwality ice cream brand and the InterContinental on Marine Drive. Under Ravi’s leadership, the family business expanded internationally, particularly in the Middle East.

Despite her influential lineage, Saaniya has kept a relatively low public profile. Official records from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs list her as a Designated Partner and Director at Mr. Paws Pet Spa & Store LLP, a Mumbai-based pet grooming and care business.

On social media, she maintains a modest presence, with around 805 Instagram followers, including Arjun and his sister Sara Tendulkar. She is also known for her involvement in entrepreneurial projects and animal welfare initiatives while steering clear of the limelight.

Connection between the families

According to media reports, the Chandok and Tendulkar families have been acquainted for years. Their long-standing association is believed to have played a role in bringing Arjun and Saaniya together.

Arjun Tendulkar’s cricket journey

At 25, Arjun Tendulkar is steadily building his career as a left-arm fast-bowling all-rounder. Representing Goa in domestic cricket, he made headlines in 2022 by scoring a century on his Ranji Trophy debut against Rajasthan—matching his father’s achievement of scoring a ton on his Ranji debut for Mumbai in 1988.

His domestic record includes 37 wickets and 532 runs in 17 First Class matches, 25 wickets in 18 List A games, and 27 scalps in 24 T20s. Arjun also plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, making his debut in 2023 and claiming his first wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was released ahead of the IPL 2025 season but was re-signed at the mega auction for INR 30 lakh.

A quiet celebration

The reported engagement was described as an intimate event with a focus on family over fanfare. Neither the Tendulkar nor the Ghai family has publicly commented on the occasion. Earlier in the day, Arjun posted an Instagram story from his bowling practice session with the caption: "Just cricket ground." His most recent post was a light-hearted Rakshabandhan video with Sara, captioned: "Happy Rakshabandhan from this chaotic duo."

Like his son, Sachin Tendulkar also married young. At 19, he famously asked Anjali’s mother, Annabelle Mehta, for permission to marry her daughter, though they tied the knot only in 1995 when he was 22.
