Who is Jahnavi Mehta? The IPL auction star everyone’s talking about

Jahnavi Mehta, the daughter of actress Juhi Chawla and businessman Jay Mehta, has become the internet’s newest crush after her appearance at the IPL 2025 Auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As the auction unfolded at the Abadi Al Johar Arena, cricket fans couldn’t help but ask, “Who is she?”—as clips and pictures of Jahnavi quickly went viral on social media.

Dressed in a white T-shirt and a dark velvet jacket, Jahnavi’s appearance at the auction caught everyone’s attention. Alongside Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) senior team members, including managing director Venky Mysore and her father, Jay Mehta, Jahnavi commanded attention not only for her stylish look but also her confident representation of the team.

Known for being the daughter of two prominent figures, Jahnavi represented KKR, the IPL team co-owned by her parents. This year marked her second appearance at the auction, once again representing KKR in the absence of her parents. Her first public role at the IPL Auction was back in 2022, where she was spotted alongside Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan, children of actor Shah Rukh Khan. At the time, her mother, Juhi, had referred to the three young stars as "the present and the future" of KKR.

Jahnavi, who completed her graduation from Columbia University in New York, is not just a figurehead for her family’s cricket franchise—she’s also a passionate cricket fan. As her mother has often mentioned, Jahnavi’s love for the sport is intrinsic, and her knowledge of cricket comes naturally. Despite being part of a high-profile family, Jahnavi has always been known for her low-key presence. She rarely shares updates on her Instagram, preferring to keep her life away from the social media spotlight.

While the media and fans were eager to see Shah Rukh Khan’s children, Aryan and Suhana, at the auction, this year they were noticeably absent from the KKR table. 

Although she was first introduced to the public eye at 17 during the IPL Auction, when she became the youngest person ever to participate in the event, Jahnavi has steadily carved out her niche. Even though she doesn’t plan to step into Bollywood at the moment, her association with her famous family and her poised demeanor have made her a subject of growing interest among fans and the media alike.
