Nurburg: Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen translated his qualifying dominance into a comprehensive victory at the Nürburgring Nordschleife on Saturday, winning the second round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS2) by a margin of 59 seconds.

Sharing the #3 Winward-run Mercedes-AMG GT3 with teammates Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon, Verstappen controlled the four-hour endurance race from the start. Despite an early challenge from veteran Christopher Haase in the #16 Scherer Sport PHX Audi, Verstappen maintained a steady pace that eventually broke the competition.

The victory, the 58th ADAC Barbarossapreis, serves as the primary competitive benchmark for Verstappen as he prepares for his debut in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring this May. For much of the race, the #3 Mercedes faced its stiffest opposition from the #99 ROWE Racing BMW of Dan Harper, which utilised an alternate pit strategy to briefly lead. However, the superior pace of the Verstappen-led squad, combined with a shorter final pit stop facilitated by a long middle stint from Gounon, saw the Mercedes emerge comfortably ahead.

A Masterclass in the "Green Hell"

Verstappen, who set a blistering pole time of 7:51.751 earlier in the day, took the final stint of the race to cross the finish line. His performance was characterised by the same clinical efficiency seen in his F1 career, navigating the dense traffic of the 15.5-mile circuit without incident.

The #99 BMW finished second, while the #44 Falken Porsche rounded out the podium. Verstappen will now travel to Suzuka for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, carrying the momentum of a "Green Hell" trophy.
