CWG 2026: India's Jadumani crushes Aaron Cullen, sets up pre-quarterfinal against Pakistan

India's Jadumani Singh Mandengbam opened his Commonwealth Games 2026 boxing campaign dominantly, defeating Scotland's Aaron Cullen by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the men's 55kg Round of 32 at the SEC Hall in Glasgow on Friday.

The Indian boxer controlled the contest from start to finish, leaving little room for the home favourite to make an impact.

Mandengbam impressed with his sharp combinations, disciplined defence and superior ring awareness, earning a clean sweep from all five judges.

Each judge awarded him a perfect 30-27 scoreline, reflecting his complete command over all three rounds as Cullen struggled to match the Indian's speed and precision.

With the comprehensive victory, Mandengbam progressed to the Round of 16, where he will face Pakistan's Rehman on July 26. The winner of that bout will secure a place in the quarterfinals.

The victory gives India a confident start in the boxing competition as the contingent eyes a strong medal haul in Glasgow.

Earlier in the day, Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain became India's first assured boxing medallist at the Games after receiving a direct entry into the semifinals.

Under Commonwealth Games rules, both losing semifinalists are guaranteed bronze medals. Lovlina will now look to advance to the final and upgrade the colour of her medal.
