IOA orders probe into harassment allegations against Hockey India secretary

New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has set up a four-member independent committee of inquiry, headed by retired High Court judge Deepa Sharma, to investigate sexual harassment allegations levelled against Hockey India secretary Bhola Nath Singh by former women's national team captain Asunta Lakra.

The panel, established following instructions from the Union Sports Ministry, comprises former athletics international Vandana Rao, former national women's hockey team captain Mamta Kharb, and advocate Sitwat Nabi.

Lakra, who sits on Hockey India's Executive Board, accused Singh of intimidation after she raised objections over the alleged sexual harassment of junior female players in Jharkhand by hockey coach Sudhir Golla.

Hockey India has been instructed to cover all financial requirements related to the panel, including honorariums, travel, lodging, and logistical expenses.

"Hockey India is also requested to extend its full cooperation to the committee and to ensure that all relevant documents, information and such other assistance as may be required is made available to the committee in a timely manner...," IOA President PT Usha stated in an official letter to the governing body.
