Vithya Ramraj's anchor sprint seals relay silver; Seema Kumari ends 16-year medal wait at Asian Games

Nagoya: India secured a silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay while Seema Kumari earned a historic bronze in the women's 10,000m final at the Asian Games on Thursday.

The quartet comprising Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj, and Manu TS captured the silver medal after posting a time of 3:14.46, successfully retaining the silver they claimed at the previous edition in Hangzhou in 2023.

A strong final leg from Vithya Ramraj proved decisive in securing second place for India. Bahrain claimed the gold medal, setting a new Asian Games record of 3:12.87.

In the women's 10,000m final, Seema completed the race in 32:50.05 to secure the bronze.

Seema's podium finish ended a 16-year medal drought for India in the discipline following a hard-fought contest, marking only the country's third medal overall in the event in Asian Games history.
