Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has shared a vivid anecdote about Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team, highlighting his intense passion and fiery temperament. Speaking on Raj Shamani's podcast, Chopra recounted an incident from Gambhir's Delhi state team days when Gambhir had a physical altercation with a truck driver. According to Chopra, Gambhir got out of his car, climbed onto the truck, and grabbed the driver's collar after a disagreement over a wrong turn and abusive behaviour. Chopra described Gambhir as a "passionate guy" who wore his heart on his sleeve and was known for his quick temper.

Chopra also discussed his own competitive relationship with Gambhir, noting that the fierce rivalry for opening spots in the team meant they were not friends. He reflected on the intense competition within the team, where players like Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan often vied for the same place, and even Virender Sehwag had to bat at number four to accommodate others.
