Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump paid tribute to wrestling icon Hulk Hogan following the announcement of his death on Thursday, calling him a "great friend" and praising his larger-than-life presence both in and out of the ring.

In a heartfelt post on Truth Social, Trump remembered Hogan as a true supporter of the MAGA movement and recalled his electrifying speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

"We lost a great friend today, the ‘Hulkster.’ Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, which was one of the highlights of the entire week. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!," Trump wrote.

Trump's connection to the world of professional wrestling stretches back decades. He hosted WWE’s WrestleMania in Atlantic City in the 1980s, during the height of Hogan's career, and is himself a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, alongside the late legend.
