Unprecedented scenes were witnessed on Day 1 of the Indian Premier League player auction for the 2025 season as teams expectedly went the extra mile for marquee Indian players at the mega bidding in Jeddah on Sunday.

Rishabh Pant overtook Shreyas Iyer to become the costliest buy in IPL's history with a Rs 27 crore winning bid from Lucknow Super Giants. Iyer too surpassed Mitchell Starc -- last IPL's most expensive buy -- with cash-heavy Punjab Kings shelling out Rs 26.75 crore for their potential captain.

Day 2 of the IPL bidding promises more more intense bidding.

Each team has a cap of Rs 120 crore for their squads. The amount they have after retaining players is what they can spend at the auction.

Here is how much each team spent, have remaining, and the number of players they retained and bought.
