Atlanta: Morocco's national football team came from behind to secure a dramatic 4-2 victory over a resilient Haiti side at the Atlanta Stadium. This pulsating Group C finale confirmed the Atlas Lions' progression into the World Cup knockout rounds as group runners-up, whilst simultaneously sealing Haiti’s elimination from the tournament.

The match exploded into life early on, with Haiti taking an unexpected lead. An initial 10th-minute header by Lenny Joseph was officially recorded as an own goal by Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou after the ball parried off his frame into the net. Morocco responded with intent, and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi equalised in the 39th minute, bundling home a loose ball after Haiti goalkeeper Johny Placide failed to cleanly clear a deflected cross.

Parity lasted only four minutes. As an early contender for goal of the tournament, Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor reclaimed the lead for Haiti in the 43rd minute, unleashing a spectacular 31-yard strike into the top left-hand corner. However, Morocco's resilience shone through before the interval. In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Ismael Saibari levelled the scoring at 2-2, expertly steering home a low cross delivered by Hakimi.

Following the half-time break, the narrative shifted heavily in favour of the North African side. Morocco returned with relentless intensity, asserting total dominance over possession. The crucial breakthrough arrived in the 78th minute through substitute Soufiane Rahimi, who controlled a flick-on from Chadi Riad following a corner before firing a fierce shot into the top corner, via a slight deflection off Haiti defender Ricardo Adé.

Morocco put the game completely out of reach in the 89th minute. Rahimi turned provider, squaring a low cross to Gessime Yassine, who tapped the ball into an empty net. While Haiti players appealed that the ball had crossed the byline before the cross, a tense video assistant referee (VAR) review subsequently confirmed the goal.

Haiti continued to fight, forcing a brilliant diving save from Bounou late on, but the Atlas Lions comfortably managed the remaining minutes. Morocco’s attacking vigour translated into 22 attempts on goal, with 11 hitting the target. Ultimately, the final whistle delighted the vast majority of the 68,000-strong crowd in attendance, booking Morocco a spot in the round of 32 against the winners of Group F, while Brazil claimed the top spot in Group C.
