Carson (California): Los Angeles Galaxy came from behind to defeat Real Salt Lake 2-1 in Major League Soccer on Sunday, with Marco Reus scoring both goals, including a late penalty winner.

Reus opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a 21-yard free kick after Gabriel Pec was fouled by Real Salt Lake midfielder Stijn Spierings.

The visitors levelled in stoppage time before halftime when Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski was credited with an own goal. Zavier Gozo's effort struck the post before deflecting into the net off the diving keeper.

Reus sealed victory in the 85th minute from the penalty spot after Sam Junqua was penalised for pushing Elijah Wynder in the back during a corner kick. The German midfielder now has four goals this season and 10 in 37 appearances for the club.

Marcinkowski made nine saves for Los Angeles, who improved to 3-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 at home.

Rafael Cabral made four saves for Real Salt Lake, who slipped to 5-3-1 and dropped to 1-2-1 away from home.

Real Salt Lake had entered the match on a six-game unbeaten run before a midweek loss to Inter Miami, while the Galaxy returned from a three-game road trip with a win.

Los Angeles will host Vancouver Whitecaps next Saturday, while Real Salt Lake will host Portland Timbers.
