Liverpool fight back twice to draw 2-2 with Forest, Iraola still awaits first win

London: Liverpool twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, leaving new manager Andoni Iraola still waiting for his first league win with the club.

The result followed a 2-2 draw at Newcastle in Iraola's first Premier League match in charge last weekend.

Liverpool's latest setback came on a day when the club was also reported to have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the signing of France international Bradley Barcola in a deal worth up to 123 million pounds ($166 million), according to a person familiar with the transaction who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Liverpool is expected to pay 106 million pounds ($143 million) for the 23-year-old winger, with another 17 million pounds ($23 million) available in potential add-ons. Barcola is expected to undergo a medical examination before completing the move.

Back at the City Ground, summer signing Víctor Muñoz rescued a point for Liverpool with an 82nd-minute strike that went in off the crossbar. Florian Wirtz provided the through-ball for the equalizer.

Alexander Isak had earlier scored Liverpool's first equalizer, while Dan Ndoye and Morgan Gibbs-White, from the penalty spot, were on target for Forest.

Liverpool's spending has already been significant, with the club having brought in Isak for 125 million pounds ($170 million) and Wirtz for 116 million pounds ($156 million).

Barcola, who joined PSG from Lyon in 2023, has won consecutive Champions League titles with the French club. The left winger has largely been used as an impact substitute, with Désiré Doué usually preferred in the starting lineup.

The draw leaves Iraola searching for his first victory as Liverpool manager, while the club continues to strengthen its attack ahead of the close of the transfer window on Tuesday.

Saturday's match was the first of four Premier League fixtures, with Bournemouth hosting Everton, Hull travelling to Coventry and Tottenham hosting Newcastle.
