‘Not good’: Mbappe withdraws from France squad after left knee hyperextension in Turkey

Madrid: Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe sustained a left knee hyperextension injury during France's Nations League victory against Turkey on Friday.

Mbappe limped off the pitch shortly after scoring his record-extending 67th international goal in the 1-0 win.

France coach Zinedine Zidane remarked that the initial prognosis was "not good," and Madrid subsequently confirmed the medical evaluation on Saturday.

"After the tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappe by Real Madrid's Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee," the Spanish club said in a statement.

Zidane said France were "not going to take any risks" and that he would not use Mbappe in the three Nations League matches scheduled over the next 10 days.

Madrid provided no official timeline for his expected return and did not specify the course of treatment he will undergo.

France face Belgium away on Monday before hosting Italy on 2 October and Belgium three days later, with both home fixtures scheduled at the Stade de France.
