Kerala Blasters to part ways with David Catala after dismal ISL 2025-26 start: Reports

Kerala Blasters is reportedly set to part ways with head coach David Catala following a dismal start to the Indian Super League 2025–26 season.

Catala, who took charge in March 2025, began his stint on a positive note with a 2-0 victory over East Bengal in the Super Cup. However, the early promise quickly faded as the Blasters failed to progress beyond the group stage. He subsequently returned to Spain amid uncertainty surrounding the ISL schedule.

Currently placed second from bottom, Kerala Blasters have managed just one goal all season, staying narrowly above Mohammedan Sporting Club in the standings.

The team’s struggles deepened once the league campaign got underway. They opened their season with a 0-2 defeat to Mohun Bagan Super Giant and have since failed to register a single win. A solitary point, earned in a 1-1 draw against East Bengal, remains their only return from six matches.

According to reports, the club has decided to terminate Catala’s contract ahead of the international break, allowing time to identify and appoint a replacement for the remainder of the campaign.

If confirmed, Catala’s exit would mark the third managerial departure for the Blasters in two seasons, following the mid-season exit of Mikael Stahre in 2024 and the end-of-season departure of T. G. Purushothaman, along with assistant coach Tomasz Tchórz.
