New Delhi: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was named assistant and batting coach of Delhi Capitals on Tuesday ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign, taking on his first formal coaching assignment in professional cricket.

A legendary figure in world cricket, the 44-year-old boasts an illustrious international career featuring 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Tests, alongside two World Cup titles. While this marks his official dugout debut, Yuvraj has already built a strong reputation as a mentor to prominent international and domestic stars, including Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Prabhsimran Singh.

Coaching debut and reunion with Sourav Ganguly

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Yuvraj highlighted his familiarity with the franchise and his anticipation of working alongside former India captain Sourav Ganguly ("Dada").

"I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life with the Delhi Capitals. I have an old association with the franchise and know the owners well, which makes this a special opportunity for me," Yuvraj said in a statement shared by the franchise.

"I'm also looking forward to teaming up with Dada, this time as coaches. Coaching is something I am truly passionate about, and I cannot wait to get started with this extremely talented squad. I'm sure it's going to be an exciting journey for me, and I look forward to contributing to the team's success," he added.
