‘Koi gel wel nahi hai’ moment: How Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s age-troll response became viral

# News Desk

Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, one of Indian cricket’s most talked-about prodigies, became the centre of a viral moment after responding to friendly age-related teasing from his India A teammates with a deadpan “No comments”. The exchange, captured in a video shared on social media, quickly spread across platforms for the 14-year-old’s unbothered composure and humour.

The incident unfolded as the India A squad travelled to Doha for the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2025. In the clip, senior players Yudhvir Singh Charak and Gurjapneet Singh can be seen joking about Suryavanshi’s youthful appearance and neatly styled hair. At one point, Yudhvir turned the camera towards himself and the teenager and asked who among them looked older. Suryavanshi replied with a straight-faced “No comments”, prompting laughter on the team bus.

A video filmed on the India A team bus captured senior players Yudhvir Singh Charak (28) and Gurjapneet Singh teasing 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi about his appearance. The light-hearted exchange centred on who looked older. Suryavanshi responded with “No comments,” which immediately triggered laughter from both players.

The teammates continued joking, suggesting that the teenager used hair gel. Suryavanshi denied it while laughing, and the moment became one of the lighter interactions shared from the squad’s journey to Doha. Suryavanshi gained national attention during IPL 2025 when he debuted for the Rajasthan Royals at 13 and scored a century, becoming the youngest player in the IPL to achieve both milestones. He also holds the record for the second-fastest IPL century.

The teasing continued when the senior players asked whether he used hair gel, which Suryavanshi denied while laughing along. The video was originally posted via Gurjapneet’s Snapchat account before circulating widely on other platforms.

Suryavanshi has been in the spotlight since his breakout IPL 2025 season with Rajasthan Royals, where he became the youngest player to debut and score a century in the tournament’s history. He also holds the record for the second-fastest IPL century. Rajasthan Royals had signed him at the age of 13, drawing attention to his rapid rise and prompting repeated discussions about his age due to his advanced on-field maturity.

He is now part of the India A squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, a clear indication of the BCCI’s confidence in his development. The team has reached Doha and begun training at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium. India A will open their campaign against the UAE before meeting Pakistan A on Sunday and Oman on 18 November.

BCCI officials have previously indicated that Suryavanshi is “knocking on the doors” of the senior national side. His inclusion in India A, instead of the Under-19 squad, reflects the board’s assessment of his readiness to play at a higher competitive level.

The India A team has arrived in Doha and is training at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium. Their group fixtures include matches against UAE, Pakistan A, and Oman, beginning on 13 November. Media posts from players have shown the squad’s travel and training routine ahead of the tournament.
