New Delhi: The Lok Sabha extended congratulations to the Indian cricket team on Monday for their victory in the T20 World Cup.

Speaker Om Birla highlighted that the country's youth and athletes would draw inspiration from this achievement.

Birla specifically congratulated the team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma for their remarkable feat.

India clinched the T20 World Cup, breaking a 17-year drought, with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the final on June 29.

On the other hand, in a rather busy day at the Parliament, the Opposition members demanded a dedicated one-day discussion on the NEET paper leak issue and walked out after failing to secure a clear assurance from the government. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, raised concerns about NEET irregularities, urging for a separate discussion. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that such a discussion couldn't occur until after the motion of thanks on the president's address. Gandhi pressed for a commitment to discuss NEET post-motion of thanks, emphasising its importance to over two crore affected students. Speaker Om Birla clarified that conventions don't allow other discussions during the motion of thanks but invited members to submit a separate notice for NEET. Despite this, opposition members, seeking a firm assurance, walked out as BJP's Anurag Thakur commenced the motion of thanks debate. Agencies
