India’s fightback on Day 4 of the Brisbane Test was halted when Steve Smith’s stunning one-handed catch dismissed KL Rahul for 84. Rahul, who had been dropped on 33 by Smith earlier, added 51 more runs to his score before edging a Nathan Lyon delivery to Smith at second slip. The catch ended a 67-run partnership between Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.

India began the day in a precarious position at 51-4, chasing Australia’s first-innings total of 445. Rohit Sharma fell early for 10, leaving India at 74-5. With the series tied 1-1, India faces a tough battle to avoid the follow-on.

The match so far

With Australia a bowler down, Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Reddy will look to avoid the possibility of getting a follow-on on Day 4 of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Tuesday.

India’s score currently stands at 180/6, trailing Australia by 278 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remains unbeaten on 52 from 88 balls, while Nitish Kumar Reddy is not out on 9 from 26 balls.

However, play has been disrupted once again due to rain. The players have been sent off the field, and the covers have been brought on as the match pauses, awaiting the weather's clearance. (With inputs from Agencies)
