Mumbai: The cricketing world was abuzz with speculation that legendary former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar might be in contention for the presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, Tendulkar and his management have categorically denied these rumours.

A statement issued by SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd, representing Tendulkar, clarified the situation:

"It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations."

The BCCI presidency fell vacant recently after Roger Binny stepped down due to the age limit of 70 years mandated by the BCCI constitution. With the Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 28, elections will be held for several key posts, including the president.

While rumours around Tendulkar's candidature gained considerable traction, insiders and the Mumbai Cricket Association have made it clear that he is not a contender. Current vice-president Rajeev Shukla is acting as the interim president until the AGM.
