Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has officially revoked the three-year ban imposed on former India cricketer S Sreesanth, following an unconditional apology from the player. The decision was reached during a Special General Body meeting held on 1 July 2026, where the association unanimously agreed to lift the sanctions after reviewing his formal expression of regret.

The ban was originally issued after Sreesanth made controversial remarks via visual and social media platforms, which the KCA stated had "brought disrepute to the association." The former pacer had previously challenged the disciplinary action in the Thiruvananthapuram Munsiff Court; however, his petition was dismissed.

In his recent submission, Sreesanth expressed sincere regret for his previous conduct, leading the KCA to clear his path to return to association-related activities. While the ban has been lifted, the KCA has issued a formal warning, noting that any similar future conduct will result in strict disciplinary measures.

This development enables Sreesanth to continue his role as a co-owner of the Aries Kollam Sailors franchise in the upcoming third season of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). The KCA had initially enforced the suspension shortly before the previous edition of the league.

Sreesanth, a former mainstay of the Indian bowling attack, has a distinguished international record, having taken 87 wickets in 27 Tests, 75 wickets in 53 ODIs, and seven wickets across 10 T20 International appearances. His domestic career has also been extensive, featuring 74 first-class matches and 92 List A appearances.
