Kolkata Knight Riders snapped up Bangladesh left-arm fast-medium bowler Mustafizur Rahman for a massive ₹9.20 crore at the IPL auction, making him the most expensive Bangladeshi player in the league’s history.

Popularly known as “The Fizz”, the 30-year-old is renowned for his deceptive slower cutters and pinpoint accuracy, especially in the death overs. He holds the record for taking the most wickets in the death overs in T20 Internationals, underlining his value as a proven finisher with the ball.

Mustafizur’s rise began during the 2015 Bangladesh Premier League, where his unique variations quickly caught the attention of global cricket experts. The same year, he made a sensational international debut, grabbing 11 wickets in his first two ODIs against India, a feat that powered Bangladesh to a historic series win.

In the IPL, Mustafizur first made his mark with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, winning the title and finishing as the tournament’s fifth-highest wicket-taker. He also became the only overseas player to win the IPL Emerging Player Award that season. Since then, he has represented Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings.

A total of 359 players -- 246 Indians and 113 overseas players -- are part of the mini auction pool with the 10 franchises bidding to fill up a maximum of 77 slots, including 31 reserved for foreign players.
