Colombo: India's tour of Sri Lanka is set to commence on July 26. While Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in T20Is, Rohit Sharma will continue to be the skipper in the ODI format. Shubman Gill will serve as the vice-captain in both the formats.

Following the three-match T20I series, ODI series will begin on August 1. While the T20I matches will be held at Pallekele International Stadium, the R Premadasa Stadium will host the ODIs, according to ESPNCricinfo.

The first T20I is scheduled for July 26, followed by matches on July 27 and July 29. Both teams will be led by new head coaches, with legendary all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya appointed as Sri Lanka's interim head coach, and former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir taking charge of India for the first time, succeeding T20 World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid.

India's last bilateral white-ball series against Sri Lanka was in July 2021 under Shikhar Dhawan's captaincy and Rahul Dravid's coaching. India won the ODI series 2-1, while Sri Lanka clinched the T20I series by the same margin.

This tour marks India's second T20I series post their T20 World Cup triumph, where they defeated South Africa in the final. A few days ago, a new-look India side led by Shubman Gill and coached by VVS Laxman clinched the T20I series against Zimbabwe by a margin of 4-1.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka had a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign, failing to advance to the Super Eights stage. They managed just one win and finished third in Group D with three points. Agencies
