Colombo: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who had travelled to Colombo for meetings with cricket administrators was seen leaving the R. Premadasa Stadium while Pakistan were still batting and the required run rate was climbing rapidly during the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup clash on Sunday.
A video showing Naqvi leaving the venue in a black car has gone viral on social media, drawing attention as Pakistan’s innings was collapsing under pressure.
Many viewers linked it to Pakistan’s struggles on the field. However, there has been no official statement explaining why the PCB chairman left before the match ended.
India dominate Pakistan to reach Super Eights
India secured a commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan to seal a place in the Super Eights stage of the tournament. Chasing 176 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs, struggling to build partnerships after early setbacks.
Despite a fighting effort from Usman Khan, who scored 44 off 34 balls, the batting line-up failed to recover after losing quick wickets.
India’s batting recovery after early setback
After being put in to bat, India lost an early wicket but recovered through a strong knock from Ishan, who scored 77, while Tilak added a steady 25. The middle order slowed briefly, but late contributions from Suryakumar, Shivam, and Rinku helped India finish at 175/7.
Pakistan bowler Saim Ayub was the standout performer with figures of 3/25.
Indian bowlers seal big win
Pakistan’s chase never gained momentum as Indian bowlers struck early. Pakistan slipped to 34/4, with Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel putting the opposition under pressure.
Axar emerged as the most effective bowler with 2/29, while Hardik, Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy also picked up two wickets each to wrap up the innings.
