Glenn Phillips has certainly made a significant impact in the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy. After taking stunning catches to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan and Virat Kohli, Phillips added another jaw-dropping effort to his highlight reel, dismissing Shubman Gill with an incredible one-handed catch. The young Indian opener had looked comfortable at the crease and appeared poised to lead India’s chase. However, Phillips defied gravity to take a screamer, leaving everyone, including himself, in disbelief.

Before his dismissal by Mitchell Santner, Gill had benefited from some luck when Daryl Mitchell dropped a catch at short midwicket off Kyle Jamieson in the seventh over.

Rohit’s ultra-aggressive approach continued throughout his innings. He struck a couple of boundaries off William O’Rourke and, in the opening over, hit Jamieson for a six. However, it was Nathan Smith, who had replaced Matt Henry, that felt the full force of Rohit’s aggression. In the eighth over, Rohit hammered Smith for 14 runs, including two fours and a six, solidifying his dominance.

Earlier, New Zealand had been restricted to a modest 251/7, with the Indian bowlers, particularly the spinners, putting on a clinical performance in the summit clash. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy were key in breaking through the Kiwi batting order, allowing India to remain in control.

Daryl Mitchell top-scored for New Zealand with 63 runs from 101 balls, while Michael Bracewell (53*), Rachin Ravindra (37), and Glenn Phillips (34) all made important contributions to New Zealand's total.
