Did you know? Anjali Tendulkar bought ₹32 lakh flat for staff in Mumbai

Mumbai: Anjali Tendulkar, wife of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, has quietly purchased a flat in Virar, earmarked exclusively for her domestic staff.
According to property registration documents accessed by Zapkey, the 391-sq ft apartment in Peninsula Heights was bought for ₹32 lakh on May 30, 2025. The deal included a stamp duty of ₹1.92 lakh and a registration fee of ₹30,000.
Confirming the move, Anjali told The Indian Express, “I have purchased the flat for one of our staff to stay in.”
She also availed a 1% concession in stamp duty offered to women homebuyers in Maharashtra, where rates typically range between 5% and 7%.
Real estate brokers note that Virar property prices currently hover between ₹6,000 and ₹9,000 per sq ft, making it one of the more affordable housing hubs in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The gesture follows a growing trend among celebrities offering housing support to staff. Earlier this year, Gauri Khan, wife of actor Shah Rukh Khan, rented a 2BHK apartment in Khar West for staff accommodation at ₹1.35 lakh per month.
