London: Barbora Krejcikova claimed her second Grand Slam title by winning Wimbledon, defeating Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in Saturday's final. The 28-year-old Czech adds this victory to her French Open championship in 2021.

Entering Wimbledon as the 31st seed out of 32 due to a season marred by illness and a back injury, Krejcikova overcame the odds with determination. Her triumph marks the eighth consecutive year that a different woman has clinched the Wimbledon title. Last year's champion, also from the Czech Republic, was Marketa Vondrousova, who exited in the tournament's opening round this year.

Paolini, seeded seventh, had reached the French Open final last month before advancing to the Wimbledon final, a feat last achieved by Serena Williams in 2016. AP
