India's quest for Olympic Archery medal: When and where to watch this Paris Olympics event

Paris: India gears up for a promising start at the Paris 2024 Olympics, as Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai lead the nation's six-member archery squad. This marks the first time since London 2012 that India fields a complete team, aiming for success across all five medal events: men's team/individual, women's team/individual, and mixed team categories.

Today, the archers begin with crucial ranking rounds at Les Invalides. Each archer will shoot 72 arrows, determining their seeding for both individual and team events. The top four seeded teams in men's and women's categories will secure direct quarterfinal spots, while teams ranked eighth to 12th will compete for the remaining slots. In the mixed team competition, only the top 16 pairs will advance based on combined scores from men's and women's categories.

Deepika Kumari, in her fourth Olympic appearance and first since becoming a mother, spearheads India's medal aspirations. Alongside her, Tarundeep Rai competes in his fourth Olympics, with Pravin Jadhav making his second appearance following Tokyo 2020. The trio of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Bhajan Kaur, and Ankita Bhakat will debut at the Games, adding to the team's fresh energy and determination.

India's archers, historically yet to clinch an Olympic medal, seek to rewrite history starting with today's individual ranking rounds. The competition kicks off ahead of the Opening Ceremony, setting the stage for intense battles from July 28 to August 4 at Les Invalides.
