Trump should get Nobel Prize for peace efforts, say Israeli hostage families

Jerusalem: An Israeli advocacy group campaigning for the release of hostages held in Gaza has urged that US President Donald Trump be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for what it describes as his determination to bring peace to the region.
What the group said
In a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum stated that Trump had made “possible what many said was impossible”.
The forum said in a statement, “We strongly urge you to award President Trump the Nobel Peace Prize because he has vowed he will not rest and will not stop until every last hostage is back home.”
It added, “At this very moment, President Trump's comprehensive plan to release all remaining hostages and finally end this terrible war is on the table.”
According to the forum, “In this past year, no leader or organisation has contributed more to peace around the world than President Trump.”
Trump’s peace plan and ongoing talks
The appeal comes as negotiations between Israel and Hamas are expected to begin in Egypt later on Monday. The talks are based on a 20-point plan announced by Trump last week, which aims to secure the release of remaining hostages and end the ongoing conflict.
Trump’s claims and expert opinions
Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, though experts believe his chances of winning are limited.
The US leader has also claimed to have resolved “six or seven wars” within a few months, a figure that analysts consider to be significantly exaggerated.
Background
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum has been actively advocating for the release of those held in Gaza, urging international pressure and leadership to secure their freedom. Their latest appeal credits Trump’s involvement and proposed plan as instrumental in ongoing peace efforts.
