Donald Trump condemns 'barbaric' Dallas murder of Indian-origin man; vows action against criminal immigrants

Texas: US President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the brutal beheading of Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager, in Dallas last week. The shocking murder, which occurred in front of Nagamallaiah’s wife and son, has sparked outrage across the Indian-American community and prompted renewed debate over US immigration policy.
Trump’s Response
President Trump, in a statement on Truth Social, called the killing "barbaric" and blamed lax immigration enforcement for the presence of Cobos-Martinez in the United States. Trump stressed, “This horrible crime was perpetrated by an illegal alien from Cuba who should never have been in our country.” He criticised the prior administration for releasing Cobos-Martinez, whose deportation to Cuba was declined by that nation, and vowed to “make America safe again” through stricter border security and aggressive removal of criminal undocumented immigrants.
Trump praised his team, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi, for prioritising public safety and renewed his call for immediate legislative action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The Incident
The tragedy unfolded at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas, where Nagamallaiah had managed operations for five years. Early on a Wednesday morning, he was attacked by co-worker Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a 37-year-old Cuban national with a violent criminal history. The altercation reportedly began over instructions about a broken washing machine. When Nagamallaiah asked Cobos-Martinez, through a translator, not to use the malfunctioning machine, the accused allegedly became enraged, left, and returned, wielding a machete. In a gruesome act witnessed by the victim’s wife and teenage son, Cobos-Martinez repeatedly struck Nagamallaiah before beheading him and tossing the head into a trash bin.
Authorities revealed that the attack was caught on hotel security cameras and that the crime scene was so severe it left the community deeply shaken. The accused, arrested nearby in a blood-stained shirt, has been charged with capital murder and remains in custody without bail.
