Berkshire (UK): The shape of an egg is something everyone is familiar with. However, have you ever heard of a perfectly spherical egg? Such eggs do exist, though they are extremely rare. The highest price ever bid at an auction for a completely spherical egg so far is approximately ₹21,000. This egg, unlike the usual ones, is entirely round in shape. It was sold for this considerable price at an auction held at Lambourn of Berkshire in the UK.

The rare egg fetched a high price at the auction after being bought by Ed Powell, a resident of Lambourn. It is believed that only about one egg in 10 crores would be fully spherical, which is why there was someone willing to pay such a high price for this rare specimen. Ed Powell initially bought the egg for around ₹16,000 out of curiosity. He then donated it to the Luventus Foundation, a charitable organisation. The egg was put up for auction after its rarity was recognised.

As news spread about the rare spherical egg being auctioned, more people showed interest in purchasing it. The Luventus Foundation had placed several items up for auction to raise funds for their charitable activities, many of which had been donated by others. Following the publicity around the egg, other items also fetched higher prices at the auction.

This is not the first time a spherical egg has appeared in an auction. Just four months ago, a woman discovered a similar egg in a shop. Upon recognising its rarity, she also put it up for auction, and it too fetched a good price.
