Protester storms Iranian embassy in London, hoists historic ‘Lion and Sun’ flag | WATCH

London: Protests over rising inflation and political repression in Iran, which began on December 28, have spread globally with solidarity rallies in cities like London. On January 9, a man climbed onto the balcony of the Iranian embassy in Kensington, unfurling the pre-revolution Lion and Sun flag while anti-regime demonstrators gathered outside.
The unrest in Iran has become the most serious challenge to the regime in years, with the government cutting off internet and phone access to limit communication. Reports indicate at least 62 people have been killed and over 2,300 detained during the demonstrations.
In London, the Metropolitan Police deployed additional officers to the embassy to maintain order. Earlier this week, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the killings and urged the Iranian government to exercise restraint. The London protest highlights international attention and solidarity with Iranians opposing the regime, as demonstrators symbolically replaced the current flag with one used before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
