Washington: Newly released UFO-related files from the Pentagon and US federal agencies have revived interest in a bizarre World War II-era account by a former Polish prisoner of war who claimed to have witnessed a mysterious flying craft in Nazi Germany in 1944.

The documents, part of the ongoing US government declassification drive linked to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), include FBI records concerning Wladyslaw Krasuski, also known as Walter Krasuski, who approached US authorities in 1957 after reports emerged of a mysterious “rocket” incident in Texas.

According to the FBI files, Krasuski contacted Robert Cutler, former National Security Advisor of the United States, claiming he had witnessed a similar phenomenon while being held as a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II.

The FBI was then instructed to interview him immediately to determine whether his account contained any intelligence value.

Krasuski, originally from Poland, had been taken to Germany as a POW in 1942 and was held at Gut Alt Golssen, located east of Berlin, until the end of the war. After living in displaced persons camps and studying radio technology in post-war Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1951 and later settled in Detroit.

In his statement to investigators, Krasuski described a strange incident that allegedly took place in 1944 while he and other prisoners were being transported to agricultural work sites.

According to the FBI transcript, the tractor transporting the group suddenly stalled in a swampy area despite no visible obstruction. Krasuski recalled hearing a “high-pitched whine” resembling a powerful electrical generator.

After several minutes, the sound stopped, and the tractor restarted.

Hours later, Krasuski claimed he secretly observed a mysterious circular craft rise vertically from inside a restricted enclosure hidden behind a massive tarpaulin wall nearly 50 feet high.

The object, he told the FBI, was circular in shape, between 75 and 100 yards in diameter and around 14 feet high.

He described the craft as having dark grey upper and lower sections, while the middle portion appeared to rotate at extremely high speed, creating what he called a blurred effect around the vehicle.

The files further state that the object emitted a low-pitched whining sound as it ascended before moving horizontally out of sight.

Krasuski also told agents he had noticed large uninsulated cables connected between the enclosed area and a nearby concrete structure.

The FBI agent who interviewed him in November 1957 recorded that there were “no indications of irrational or abnormal behaviour” or signs of mental instability during questioning.

The documents additionally note that Krasuski had discussed the sighting with other prisoners of war, including Russian, French and Polish detainees.

The files have resurfaced amid renewed public fascination following the Pentagon’s latest release of UAP records, part of a wider transparency initiative involving the Pentagon, NASA, the FBI and US intelligence agencies.
