Pakistan has been using a multi-purpose surveillance drone named Supercam S350, which it bought from Russia, along its borders with India, Moscow-based media outlet Sputnik reported.

To note, Pakistani forces had been using an earlier variant of the UAV -- the SuperCam S250 mini -- for surveillance. But the latest upgrade is a cause of concern with experts touting the drone as the best in its class.

The Supercam S350 is currently the flagship scout drone for Russian forces. Supercam boasts exceptional tactical and technical characteristics, enabling day and night reconnaissance with precise target coordinates.

At the Army 2024 Forum, a representative of the Unmanned Systems Group highlighted the capabilities of their flagship reconnaissance drone, Supercam, which has been successfully tested in real-world special military operations.

Its features include:

* The Supercam drone is built on a composite/plastic flying wing glider with an arrow-shaped design, featuring a 3.2-meter span and collapsible structure for easy transport.

* It can stay in the air for seven hours.

* Weighing 11.5 kg at take-off, the drone allocates several kilograms for payload modules.

* Powered by two replaceable batteries, the fully electric Supercam is equipped with an electric motor and propeller in the nose.

* The electric motor also enables near-silent operation, making it nearly undetectable to enemy forces.

* It can fly at a speed of up to 120 km/h and has a range of up to 240 km.

* The UAV can reach altitudes of up to 5,000 meters. Take-off options include a catapult or manual launch, while landing is facilitated by a parachute.

* The control system includes an autopilot with navigation devices capable of programmed flight or operator command execution. This ensures seamless data transfer from the payload, with video signal transmission possible over 100 km.

* The drone offers three payload module mounting points, with various options available, including optical-electronic systems with cameras and thermal imagers, a laser scanner, and a gas analyzer.
