PM Modi, Trump to hold first talks since ‘Operation Sindoor’ at G7 Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet US President Donald Trump in France during his June 13-18 visit, with the G7 Summit expected to be the key highlight of the trip, according to the White House.

The global leaders are set to hold bilateral discussions on June 17 on the sidelines of the Summit, the White House has confirmed.

According to a senior US administration official, the meeting will take place ahead of a working lunch involving G7 leaders, outreach partners and leading technology executives. The discussions are expected to cover a range of issues, including economic growth, supply chain resilience, artificial intelligence (AI), investment partnerships and global security challenges.

The White House said President Trump will use the summit to advance an economic agenda focused on mutually beneficial investment and development partnerships, while also discussing critical minerals, supply chain security, illegal immigration and drug trafficking with global leaders.

Artificial intelligence is also expected to feature prominently during the summit, with Trump scheduled to participate in discussions alongside world leaders and technology executives on innovation and emerging technologies.

In addition to his meeting with Modi, Trump is expected to hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, the Emir of Qatar, the President of the United Arab Emirates and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during his visit.

This will be the first bilateral meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi since last year’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan, which was described as a successful operation

The G7 summit will take place in Evian on June 15-17.
