Sharjah building fire confirmed as short circuit, police clarify after initial reports

Sharjah: A fire that broke out in a building in the Al Nahda area of Sharjah on Sunday was caused by a short circuit, according to a clarification issued by Sharjah Police.
Earlier reports had suggested that the blaze may have been linked to falling debris. However, authorities have now confirmed that the fire was not connected to any external incident.
Residents in the area reported seeing thick smoke rising from the building shortly after the fire began. Some witnesses living near the Dubai–Sharjah border told Mathrubhumi that the smoke was visible from surrounding neighbourhoods.
One resident described the scene as tense but manageable, saying there was visible smoke in the sky, though the situation did not cause widespread panic.
Sharjah Police stated that investigations determined the fire was triggered by an internal electrical fault. Officials urged the public to rely on verified information and official statements.
